Laptop prices Rp 120.000,-? I’m not joking, Guys. It is a real laptop.
India releases lowest-prices laptop in OLPC (One Laptop per Child) program. Well, the program sounds interesting, doesn’t it? OLPC is project from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, U.S., that makes efforts in supplying cheapest laptop for children in developing countries. This laptop has 2 GB RAM and built-in wireless network tool.
I got price information from jawapos that states each laptop price is INR 500 (nearly equals to Rp 120.000) in India. But, when I visited OLPC site, it is stated that each laptop prices $ 199 (nearly equals to Rp 2.000.000). Perhaps, They are subsidized in India. Well, let’s view more about OLPC’s laptop.
OLPC is using OX laptop. The XO is a potent learning tool designed and built especially for children in developing countries, living in some of the most remote environments. It’s about the size of a small textbook. It has built-in wireless and a unique screen that is readable under direct sunlight for children who go to school outdoors. Wonderful!
Let’s see the Laptop closely:

front-view
The XO laptop has built-in functionality for still and video photography, voice recording, and game playing. It has built-in microphone and external mic-jack that supports both AC and DC sources. It als0 has built-in speaker and speaker jack. You can totally express your creativities by this multimedia tools. It’s screen can be rotated to left and right, even for 90 degrees.

top-view
XO laptop has using qwerty keyboards and innovative keyboard shortcuts. XO laptops employ a novel dual-mode touchpad with sensor technology that supports both finger touch and a stylus. OMG… What a sophisticated one!
It has two ears which works as antenna. When they down, they cover audio and USB jacks, keep them clean.
I think OLPC and XO laptop is absolutely suitable for children to study and encourage their creativity. Moreover, it is very cheap with it’s sophisticated feature. I hope Indonesia joins this project soon. It will be so wonderful if OLPC’s project name not just a name, but be a real case: every child has a laptop.
